After a warm welcome and introduction to the aims and objectives of the trip by Andy Cruden, we proceeded with a knowledge exchange. Each student delivered a 10 minute presentation on their research area with a healthy debate following, as well as guest speaker Bobby Smith, chair of Energy Storage Ireland.

There was a wide variety of topics dicussed ranging from flywheels to marine, economics to electron structure and much more in between.

We followed this opening session with a tour of the campus, getting to see some of the fantastic architecture at Trinity College and a visit to Book of Kells, including the famous long room!
